Cindy McCain said today that she expects her husband to clear the record at tonight's debate and let America know where he truly stands.

McCain, who stopped to visit a half-dozen children at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt today, said the presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama has "waged the dirtiest campaign in American history," and her husband Sen. John McCain will use tonight's debate to correct the distortions.

I could care less about the false accusations by Miss Buffalo Chip. Although an Academy Award nomination is a possibility, given her performance!

What I am completely baffled by and irritated at is the media for fueling these ridiculous campaign tactics, hour after hour, pundit host after pundit host. I mean come on, how many different ways can the same thing be spun?

And another thing, what is the point of asking a McCain surrogate a weak attempt of de-bunking these misleading campaign charges only to have the surrogate allowed to state their false point? It is like the media is giving credence to the surrogate when everyone knows the surrogate's position just got de-bunked!

I realize the presidential campaign is winding down and soon it will be time for these pundits to go back out into the field to begin reporting again to make an honest living giving up the cable TV host fame and all. But, can't these reporters do something more worth while like switch their attention to the gubernatorial and congressional races? I still would like to see most if not all incumbents voted out... [that is reporting]

      Before interviews with the press, McCain spent about 20 minutes visiting with children staying at the hospital who gathered to work on voting bags to pass out to other patients.

      Um....Uh....*blank stare* I have read the quoted sentence above at least 20 times and wonder what it means. Cindy McCain visited  Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Ok I get that part of it. Cindy McCain spent about 20 minutes visiting with children staying at that hospital *I'm going out on a limb here...I assume the children are PATIENTS?!? who gathered to work on voting bags to pass out to other patients. Those other patients I also assume are CHILDREN. Um.....Uh.... ok.... this doesn't make sense.  I have one conclusion, either she is exploiting children to pack voting bags for their meds, or she herself raided the med cart on her way in.

      I have a blank stare as well.  I am just simply amazed at her charity. *dripping sarcasm*  Campaigning at a friggen children's hospital where children's lives are in the balance and possibly pandering for votes from their parents?  I think I'm going to be sick.       Sorry to disagree with you, Doug, but the only reason McCain wasn't prosecuted further was because he actually appeared before the ethics committee and apologized. He was NOT cleared 100%. If he had been, why would he have appeared before the committee? why would he have had anything to apologize for? and why would the committee have chastised him and said he exercised poor judgement?

              I have also noticed that just about every picture they are captured in together (except for the cover of people mag) she has this look on her face of "Ewwwww". You never see the two of them sharing a personal moment between them.  Not to say I need to see them liplock (eeewwwww) but I mean at least act like you like the man.  Also after the debates last night I watched how she interacted with us everyday people.  You know us "joe six packs".  Several of them it looked as if she shook their hand just because she felt obligated in front of the cameras.

                  I felt a pang of sorrow for McCain. He really has screwed up. And then he and the Mrs. scuttle away. I felt a pang of sorrow for having had the FIRST pang of sorrow. Total Obama, nada McCain, in my opinion. I have emailed and talked with others after this debate, Impressions, for one, "like eating a stale slice of bread". I found it very intense, Obama exciting, McCain with ants in his pants. Tom Brokaw was a mediocre choice as moderator.

                  Sarah Palin is for John McCain what Spiro Agnew was for Richard Nixon.  A lying sleazy attack-dog with fleas.   She can continue to drag out the Troopergate investigation until after this election, but not past 2012.  Don't worry about her.  Unless McCain wins, she is history.

                  I agree twocreeks. I felt a pang of sadness and pity for McCain. It's obvious he wants this so much, and he's let Rovians run his campaign over. He's made too many mistakes, and missed what is probably his last chance at the presidency.

                  I don't doubt that McCain, in his own mind, has good intentions. I don't agree with his means to those ends, but he's a decent person who loves his country and wants to serve it.

                  I would honestly feel more comfortable (and therefore less anxiety about this whole election) if Palin was not his running mate. Mitt Romney, Ron Paul even. I certainly don't agree with them since I am not a conservative, but Palin makes me uncomfortable and is ruining his whole campaign.

                  I feel bad for him, really... But I'll still be voting Obama.

                  The Republican party puts this stuff out because they have no respect for the voter. They think no one pays enough attention to tell the difference between their bald distortions---which amounts to simply saying the complete opposite of the truth and that the voter that they are aiming for will never know the difference.                   I really wish this campaign would get back to the facts and stop the he-said, she-said crap. John McCain wants us to think he is such a great person that he uses his wife and Palin to do his dirty talk. Stop the negative talk and talk about how this economy is going to be fixed so that I'm going to be able to feed my children, keep my health insurance, buy gas to get to work, afford the high prices of groceries, and stop living pay check to pay check. How are we going to fix the way we are perceived by other countries; how do we earn the respect from the rest of the world like we used to have. Negative comments won't help me keep my job or send my son to college next year. That's what I want to hear, not what Obama did in his college years. Hell, I did some things in my college years that I'm not proud of, but it has no bearing on who I am today because I've matured. If anyone can say they haven't done things in their past that they're not proud of, they will be lying, because none of us are perfect.                   My philosophy and logic professor, Doc Brown, used to say that when someone can't argue on the facts anymore, they resort to the ad hominem attack . Apparently the McCain camp can't argue and win on the issues, so all they can do it make personal attacks against Barack Obama.

                  They'll say the finger-pointing needs to stop, then point over at the Obama camp and say "like them" or "like they do." They don't really want it to stop, to have a more civil polite discourse. If the attacks stopped, then what would the McCain camp do? They'd have nothing else to say.
